Make Your Own Latte from Home with the Miroco Frother
Today I’m going to show you some food tech that I literally use every morning to start my day. It's called the Miroco Milk Frother and it's a device that you can use to make amazing cafe-style drinks at home. I'll talk about the features and let you know whether you should pick one up so you can recreate your favorite coffee shop beverages in your own kitchen.
So why did I get this thing? Well the main reason is because I'm working from home. I wanted a way to make my favorite daily beverage, a chai latte, a bit more exciting. Traditionally, I would just do an iced chai latte. Pretty boring. But what the Miroco offers is much more enticing. I can heat it up, infuse the chai spices with milk and get that perfect froth, all in under 4 minutes.
And because it's fast, it's also very simple to use. First you plug in the base and place the pitcher on top. Now the looks are kind of deceiving here as you can only make about an 8 ounce cup. Most of the body of the pitcher is actually where the motor and electronics are housed. Next you have the choice of using either a frothing whisk or a heating whisk. You also get two additional whisks in case you lose one. Since I'm making a Chai Latte, I just use the heating whisk.
Next I gather my ingredients. I like to use Oregon Chai, Oatley Oat Milk and Ceylon Cinnamon which actually has some health benefits like antioxidants. I pour the chai up to the froth max level. The pour levels are important which I'll get into later. Then I add the oat milk up to the max level for heating. You can play with the mixture levels as long as they don't go above the heating max level. Pop the cover on and press the blue start button. And that's pretty much it. The heating whisk goes through a few rotation cycles while the drink reaches the perfect temperature of 65 degrees Celsius. It seriously nails the temperature every single time, not matter how cold the milk is.
After about 4 minutes, the frother’s red indicator light starts blinking to notify you when the cycle is complete. Then I pour my drink into a mug, add the Ceylon cinnamon and it's done. There's a nice thin layer of froth right on top where the cinnamon collects. Seriously, this drink is very very tasty. The end result is something you'd get from one of your favorite local coffee shops. Clean up is also simple, just rinse out the stainless steel interior and wipe away any residue. I really can't stress how much time this saves.
So what don't I like? Well the first big issue is there's no sound alert when the frother is done. So unless your paying close attention, you may miss getting that perfectly timed drink. And as I mentioned earlier, the capacity of the frother is only good for one cup. I tried going a little over the max capacity with the frothing whisk and it was a disaster because of froth over spill. For the price I feel like a capacity of at least 12 ounces would have been ideal. But outside of those two things, the Miroco Milk Frother is really a pleasure to use and a solid recommend because it's something I truly believe will save you time and money. Now, even if you're not a fan of chai latte's there's a lot of drinks you can make using coffee, cold brew and a variety of milks. Happy frothing!
