QWayQ EM04 Electric Dirt Bike Review: A 60V Ripster With a Seriously Good Tune

The QWayQ EM04 is the kind of electric dirt bike that doesn’t need a ton of hype to feel impressive. The first thing that hit me wasn’t even the top speed or the wheel size—it was the tune. The throttle mapping on this thing feels dialed in the way I wish more of these 60V bikes felt out of the box.
This is a 17-inch front / 14-inch rear “midsize” electric dirt bike—technically still in that mini-dirt-bike family, but it sits taller and feels like a real step up from the smaller 14/12 setups. After putting it through acceleration runs, top speed testing, parking lot chop, and some light off-road, I walked away thinking the EM04’s biggest strength is how predictable and responsive it feels when you actually ride it.
First Impressions
Right away, the EM04 looks sharp. The black-and-yellow colorway is striking without feeling like a rolling billboard. Yellow rims, a yellow rear spring, and just enough decals on the number plate and fenders—it’s tasteful, and it stands out.
Physically, it lands in that “midsize” category. With my 30-inch inseam, I was able to flat foot it, which is a good indicator that it’s bigger than a typical mini but still approachable.
Build-wise, it’s the familiar formula for this class: knobby tires, moto-style hydraulic brakes, hydraulic suspension front and rear, and a dirt-bike silhouette that’s more about fun than fuss. The frame is high-carbon steel, and the total weight is listed at 145 lbs—light enough to toss around, but substantial enough to feel planted.
Setup and Design Details That Matter
A few things stood out to me during the walkaround because they directly affect how you live with the bike:
Battery access is simple
The seat pops up with a quick twist/turn setup, and the 60V 27Ah battery is easy to remove. That matters more than people think—being able to pull the battery for winter storage (or just to keep it out of extreme temps) is huge.
Controls feel dirt-bike familiar
Up top, I’ve got a left-mounted display with three power modes, key ignition, and a full twist throttle. The headlight control is also right there, and the headlight itself is genuinely bright.
Brake and drivetrain hardware is what I expect for this class
It’s running a 60-tooth rear sprocket with a 420 chain, and both ends get hydraulic disc brakes with thick rotors. There’s also chain adjustment hardware at the rear, which is a small thing—but if you ride these hard, you’ll appreciate it.
The seat is typical… and that’s not a compliment
The saddle-style seat looks right, but like a lot of bikes in this category, it isn’t very grippy. If this were mine long-term, I’d reupholster it with something that locks me in better.
Ride Experience (This Is Where the EM04 Wins)
I spent most of my time focusing on the things that actually make or break a bike in the real world: throttle response, controllability at low speed, braking feel, and whether it stays fun once you’re out of the “spec sheet” zone.
Throttle response and tuning
Power mode 1 immediately surprised me. It’s not a sleepy beginner mode—it has real torque right off the line. The throttle ramp felt clean and responsive, and I didn’t feel any weird delay between twisting and getting power.
That’s a bigger deal than it sounds. I’ve ridden plenty of bikes where the motor has power, but the controller tune makes it feel mushy or unpredictable. Here, the power delivery is predictable, which makes the bike easier to ride fast and easier to ride smoothly.
When I bumped up to mode 2, it got rowdier quickly. I was able to get the front wheel up, and it felt like the bike was eager but still controllable.
Mode 3 is where it turns into a proper ripper. It’s got tons of power, and the difference between modes 1, 2, and 3 is obvious. That spread between modes matters—if all three feel the same, the modes are basically just a display gimmick. On the EM04, they actually change the ride.
Acceleration and top speed testing
I ran top speed testing and consistently saw the EM04 top out around 45 mph, with peaks around 46 mph. For this class of 60V midsize electric dirt bike, that’s a solid real-world number.
More important than the number, though, is how it gets there. It pulls strong off the line, and the bike feels like it wants to keep going without the throttle feeling jerky.
Handling and maneuverability
This platform is a familiar shape if you’ve been around 17/14 bikes, and that’s a good thing. It’s easy to maneuver and easy to place where you want it—even in sketchier conditions.
I rode it in a choppy, gravelly parking lot and kept my turns conservative because the surface was loose, but the bike felt stable and predictable. It didn’t feel like it wanted to surprise me.
Braking performance
The brakes do their job. When I squeezed hard, I was able to lock up the wheel. On a bike like this, that’s really what I’m looking for: enough braking authority to stop confidently and enough bite that I can modulate when traction is limited.
Comfort and suspension
Comfort is where I have the most mixed feelings.
The suspension does start to make more sense once you’re moving—at speed, it handled bumps without much drama. But at lower speeds and over small chop, I could feel that the rear shock was on the stiff side for my weight (I’m around 135 lbs). It may simply need some break-in time, but if you’re a lighter rider, expect it to feel firm out of the box.
The seat also doesn’t have a ton of padding, and I felt that over bumps. This isn’t a dealbreaker for short sessions, but if you’re planning longer rides, the seat is going to be a comfort bottleneck before the motor or battery becomes one.
Light Off-Road Riding
Pointing the EM04 at light off-road terrain is where it starts to feel like what it’s meant to be. I took it up and down a hill and it handled it without hesitation. The low-end torque makes climbing feel effortless, and the bike stays fun when you’re transitioning between surfaces.
This isn’t me claiming it’s a full-size motocross replacement—it’s still in that midsize electric dirt bike class—but for the kind of off-road most people realistically have access to (dirt paths, small climbs, loose terrain, open lots), it’s a blast.
Who the QWayQ EM04 Is For
This category of 60V, 17/14 electric dirt bike exists for a reason: it’s the step-up bike.
If you’re coming from a smaller 48V mini with a 14-inch front / 12-inch rear setup and you want something taller, faster, and more capable, the EM04 makes a lot of sense. It has the power to keep things exciting, but it also has the kind of predictable throttle tune that helps you stay in control.
I don’t see it as the ideal choice for true beginners or kids. Even in mode 1, it has enough torque to get you into trouble if you’re not ready for it.
If you’re taller, or you’ve outgrown the smaller minis, the EM04’s wheel setup and overall stance feel like the right move.
Mod Potential (If You’re That Kind of Rider)
I honestly didn’t feel like this bike needed immediate mods to be fun. The tune is already the standout feature.
That said, it looks like the kind of platform where controller tuning and upgrades could be on the table. If you’re already in the ecosystem of similar 17/14 bikes (the ones with similar geometry and parts compatibility), there’s a good chance you can carry over accessories and fitment parts.

Rear suspension feels stiff, especially if you’re a lighter rider (it may need break-in)
Seat padding is thin, and the cover isn’t very grippy
With this much torque and speed, it’s better for intermediate/existing riders than brand-new beginners
Depending on where you live, street legality may be limited—plan on private property or off-road areas
Final Thoughts
The QWayQ EM04 stands out in a crowded 60V electric dirt bike category for one simple reason: it feels right when you ride it. The throttle response is crisp, the power is predictable, and the bike is easy to handle even when the ground isn’t perfect.
If you want a step up from a smaller mini—something taller, faster, and more capable without feeling sketchy—the EM04 is a strong option. If you’re very light, you’ll probably notice the rear suspension stiffness, and I’d love to see a grippier, more padded seat from the factory. But those are “ownership tweaks,” not red flags.
For me, the biggest compliment I can give it is this: I didn’t spend the ride wishing I could fix the tune. I just rode it.
