Tenways CGO600 Review: A Lightweight Belt-Drive Commuter That Feels Like a Real Bike

The Tenways CGO600 is the kind of e-bike that doesn’t shout “e-bike.” It’s slim, quiet, and intentionally simple—more like a traditional city bike that happens to give you a smooth boost.
I spent time setting it up, riding it on flats and small hills, and using it the way most of us actually commute: quick starts, stop-and-go streets, and steady cruising when things open up. If you’re coming from regular cycling (especially single-speed or road-style bikes), this one makes a lot of sense.
First Impressions: Sleek, Minimal, and Seriously Light
The first thing that surprised me was the weight. At 33 lb, it’s genuinely easy to handle. I could lift it with one hand, which matters way more than people think—stairs, apartment hallways, loading it into a car, or just maneuvering it in tight spaces.
The black and lime green look is sharp and modern without being overdesigned. Tenways nailed the “clean commuter” aesthetic.
Setup and Walkaround: Built for Low-Fuss Commuting
The cockpit is refreshingly uncluttered.
You get a concise OLED display that shows speed, battery percentage, total miles traveled, a headlight icon, and your pedal assist level. Assist is simple: three levels.
It also includes front and rear fenders, plus a small USB-rechargeable tail light. Those are the kinds of commuter touches I appreciate because they save you from immediately needing a shopping list of add-ons.
One big functional note: the battery is integrated into the downtube and it isn’t removable. Charging is done via the port on the frame.
The Ride: Quiet, Natural Assist That Rewards Effort
This is not the kind of e-bike that drags you along while you spin casually. The CGO600 uses a torque sensor and the assist comes in smoothly and naturally—more like the bike is amplifying what you’re already doing rather than taking over.
The first few pedal strokes felt instantly intuitive. No sudden surge, no awkward lag. Just subtle help.
And because it’s so quiet (thanks in large part to the belt drive), you notice the ride itself: tires on pavement, wind, your breathing. It’s an e-bike you can genuinely “just ride.”
Speed feels earned (in a good way)
With strong pedaling, I could work it up to about 20 mph. Hitting top speed didn’t feel automatic—I had to put in real effort. Personally, I like that, because it keeps the ride engaging and it still feels like exercise.
Agile handling
The CGO600 feels light on its feet. It’s easy to maneuver, easy to thread through tighter areas, and it doesn’t have that heavy e-bike steering sensation.
Single-speed character
This bike runs a single-speed drivetrain. If you’re used to multi-gear e-bikes or you want to spin casually up steep climbs, the feel may take some adjustment. But if you’ve spent time on fixies or single-speeds, it’ll feel familiar.
The Standout Feature: Gates Carbon Belt Drive
The belt drive is the headline feature for me.
Compared to a traditional chain, the belt is smoother and noticeably quieter. But the real win is everyday maintenance. No chain oil. No greasy marks. No chain stretch worries the same way.
If your commuting life includes office pants, nicer shoes, or just not wanting to deal with drivetrain grime, the belt drive is a lifestyle upgrade.
Braking and Control
The bike uses Tektro hydraulic disc brakes, and they gave me consistent, confident braking—exactly what I want on a commuter where conditions can change quickly.
Battery, Charging, and the Reality of Non-Removable Power
The CGO600 uses a 36V 7Ah integrated battery hidden in the downtube. Tenways lists up to 43 miles of range, and charging is stated at about 2.5 hours.
In real life, range depends heavily on assist level, terrain, and rider weight. The bigger practical consideration for many people is the non-removable battery. If you live in a walk-up or you can’t bring the bike near an outlet, you’ll want to think through your charging routine before committing.
Fit Notes
The bike I rode was a medium. It felt comfortable and easy to control, but if you’re over six feet tall, sizing up is worth considering.
Who I Think This Bike Is For
This is an ideal commuter e-bike for riders who:
Want an e-bike that rides like a regular bike
Prefer pedaling and fitness over throttle cruising
Value stealthy design and low noise
Want low drivetrain maintenance (belt drive is the big deal)
Need something light enough to carry occasionally
If you want a throttle, or you want the bike to do most of the work, this probably isn’t your match.

The Tenways CGO600 is one of the most “bike-like” e-bikes I’ve ridden. It’s quiet, lightweight, and minimal in the best way—built to blend into daily life instead of turning every ride into a power-bike experience.
For me, the belt drive and torque sensor combo is the magic: smooth, silent, clean, and easy to live with. If you want a commuter e-bike that still feels like you’re riding a bicycle (and getting a workout), the CGO600 fits that lifestyle perfectly.
