Wheelie Assist Showdown: Future Motion Antic vs The Float Life Wheelie Fun Bike

Two bikes landed in the same moment with the same promise: make wheelies easier, more controlled, and more repeatable. But after riding the Future Motion Antic and spending time on The Float Life’s Wheelie Fun Bike, it’s clear they’re not really chasing the same rider.

Antic

One feels like a polished, lightweight wheelie machine you can live with day-to-day. The other feels like a torque-first, tunable platform that’s built to be pushed hard and personalized.

Here’s how they compare in the real world.

Design philosophy: integrated vs customizable

The Antic feels like it came from a tightly managed ecosystem. It’s cohesive, refined, and designed to be picked up and understood quickly.

The Wheelie Fun Bike feels like the opposite approach in the best way: open, mod-friendly, and built around the idea that riders will want to tweak, experiment, and service things with commonly available parts.

I kept thinking of it like “plug-and-play” versus “build-and-tune.” Neither is inherently better. It just depends on what you enjoy.

Weight and daily usability

The Antic being much lighter makes a bigger difference than I expected. It’s simply easier to move around—loading into a car, shifting it in the garage, carrying it up steps. That kind of friction matters if you actually ride a lot.

The Wheelie Fun Bike’s extra weight brings a different vibe. It feels more like a little tank—confident and planted—but transport and storage take more commitment.

Seats, comfort, and the wheelie mindset

The Wheelie Fun Bike’s seat has a rear scoop that’s clearly shaped with wheelies in mind. When I’m practicing and trying to stay locked into a consistent position, that scoop feels supportive and purposeful.

The Antic’s flat seat is more “general riding” friendly, and honestly I didn’t feel like it held me back. I adapted quickly. The scoop is nice, but I didn’t miss it when I hopped back on the Antic.

Wheelie Assist: two completely different experiences

This is the whole point—and it’s where the bikes separate the most.

Antic wheelie assist (manual pop-up)

On the Antic, I pop the front wheel up manually, then the system stabilizes and helps hold the angle once I’m in that pocket. After that, it’s on me for side-to-side balance and staying smooth.

Once I learned the timing, the Antic felt repeatable. It’s the kind of setup where you can build confidence because the behavior doesn’t feel like it’s constantly changing.

Wheelie Fun Bike wheelie assist (button-driven)

On the Wheelie Fun Bike, wheelie assist is more “requested” than “initiated.” I build a little momentum, then press the left wheelie button to bring the front end up. Releasing the button is the exit.

That clean, consistent “button release” exit is a really smart idea. The drop-down matters just as much as the lift, and having a predictable way to come down can make the whole experience feel safer and more controlled.

The catch is that a tunable system can take longer to gel with. I found myself wanting to spend more time getting settings dialed before I fully relaxed into it.

Apps and tuning: simple presets vs deep control

The Antic’s app experience feels intentionally limited. I can adjust key behavior like wheelie angle, regen response, and ride modes, but it’s presented as a set of choices that stay approachable.

The Wheelie Fun Bike goes much deeper. There are more layers of control (like anti-loop style protections and lift behavior adjustments), and that’s awesome if you’re the kind of rider who loves to shape exactly how a bike behaves.

For casual riders, that depth could feel like overkill. For experienced riders, it’s the entire point.

Power delivery: similar top speed, very different punch

On paper, the top speeds are close. On the road, the acceleration character is not.

The Antic feels smoother and more “friendly” in the way it builds speed. It does the job, and it’s easy to manage.

The Wheelie Fun Bike feels like it has a much stronger shove on demand. If you like aggressive launches and torque-forward behavior, it’s immediately compelling.

Battery ownership: removable matters

This is a lifestyle detail people overlook until winter hits.

The Antic’s battery being non-removable means the bike needs to live somewhere temperature-friendly. If it’s cold out, I’m either storing the whole bike indoors or figuring out a heated solution.

The Wheelie Fun Bike’s removable battery is a big practical win—especially if you don’t want to drag a full bike inside just to keep the battery happy. It doesn’t sound like a quick-release setup, but it’s still a benefit.

Suspension and where I actually want to ride

The Wheelie Fun Bike’s full suspension changes the kind of riding I want to do. Off-road, it’s simply more comfortable and more forgiving.

On the Antic, extended off-road riding wore on me. For pavement, neighborhood cruising, and messing around with wheelies in the street, both bikes are a blast. But if dirt is a real part of your routine, the full suspension advantage is hard to ignore.

Braking and control inputs

The Antic blends a front hydraulic disc brake with rear regen controlled from the left lever. I’ve had some preference-based frustrations with combining behaviors into one lever, but once I had it set up how I like, it wasn’t a dealbreaker—especially given how light the bike is.

The Wheelie Fun Bike’s setup feels more “mini moto,” and that fits its whole personality. It’s also designed in a way that makes sense for a heavier, harder-charging bike.

Serviceability: closed system vs open ecosystem

If you’re the kind of owner who wants to wrench, mod, and rely on community knowledge, the Wheelie Fun Bike’s approach is naturally appealing.

The Antic can use standard parts in some areas (bars, pegs, brakes), but it’s still tied to a proprietary ecosystem for key components. If that kind of closed service path bothers you, it’ll matter in your buying decision.

What We Like

Antic

Lightweight feel that makes daily transport and storage easier

Wheelie assist feels predictable once I’m in the pocket

Simple, polished experience that’s easy to learn

Integrated, cohesive design language

Wheelie Fun Bike

Torque-forward acceleration that feels serious

Full suspension makes off-road riding legitimately comfortable

Button-driven wheelie assist has a clean, consistent exit

Open, customizable approach that rewards tuning and experimentation

Removable battery is a practical advantage

Things To Consider

The Antic’s closed ecosystem may be a dealbreaker if you prioritize self-service and third-party support

The Wheelie Fun Bike’s extra weight impacts portability and storage

The Wheelie Fun Bike’s tuning depth can add a learning curve if you just want to hop on and go

Lighting is more “ready out of the box” on the Antic; the Wheelie Fun Bike approach is more add-on oriented

Range and real-world results depend heavily on riding style—especially if you’re doing lots of wheelie practice and hard acceleration

Final Thoughts

I don’t look at this as “which one is better.” I look at it as: what kind of rider am I today?

If I want something lighter, easier to live with, and consistently friendly once I’ve learned the feel, I reach for the Antic.

If I want maximum punch, full suspension comfort, and a bike that feels like a platform I can keep refining over time, the Wheelie Fun Bike is the one that keeps calling my name.

More than anything, I like that wheelie assist is becoming a real category. Different philosophies mean more options—and that’s good for all of us.
