Meelod XT600 Review: A Heavy-Duty Fat-Tire E-Bike That Rides Shockingly Smooth

The Meelod XT600 is one of those e-bikes that looks simple at first glance… and then you get close and realize it’s built like a tank. It has that minimalist, moto-inspired silhouette with a thick aluminum frame, a long bench-style seat, and big 26x4 fat tires that basically dare you to take the long way home.

I spent time walking through the details, setting it up the way I like, and then riding it on the kind of rough, uneven pavement that instantly exposes whether an e-bike is genuinely comfortable or just looks the part.

First look: minimalist, but not basic

The frame design is the star here. It’s chunky, high-strength aluminum, and the tubing feels substantial in a way that inspires confidence at higher speeds and on rougher surfaces. The battery placement is clean and fits the lines of the bike well, and the overall layout feels aerodynamic and purpose-built.

This is also the kind of platform that immediately makes me think, “Yeah, I could customize this.” There’s room to work with, and the layout feels friendly for mods—without needing to change anything to enjoy it.

Controls and cockpit feel

Up front I got a low-rise MTB-style handlebar with standard rubber grips. The bike uses a center-mounted color LCD that’s easy to see while riding, and it offers five levels of pedal assist.

On the right side there’s a half-twist throttle. I like the feel of a half-twist on bikes like this—it gives quick control without feeling like I’m hanging on for dear life over bumps.

There’s also a control pad for lights and settings, plus a horn button and a turn signal switch. On my bike, the turn signals didn’t seem to be working, which is worth knowing if that’s a feature you’re counting on.

Comfort: the suspension and seat do the heavy lifting

The XT600 uses a Fast Ace adjustable rear shock, and it makes a real difference. I rode in a rough parking lot with uneven pavement—exactly the kind of surface that usually makes me stand up off the saddle and brace.

Here, I didn’t need to. The rear shock smoothed out a lot of the chatter, and the bike stayed composed.

The seat is a moto-style saddle with memory foam, and it’s legitimately comfortable. It’s the kind of seat that encourages longer rides because you’re not constantly shifting around trying to find relief.

One big caveat: the seat height isn’t adjustable. I couldn’t fully flat-foot it, and it’s going to fit taller riders better. If you’re on the shorter side, this could be a deal breaker.

Ride impressions: stable, planted, and confidence-inspiring

Once I got rolling, the tune felt dialed. In the mid assist levels it felt natural and easy to manage. When I bumped it up to pedal assist level five, it had plenty of speed—my display was showing about 25 mph during the ride.

The 26x4 Kenda Juggernaut tires contribute a lot to the overall vibe. They don’t just look aggressive; they add stability, cushion, and traction that make the bike feel planted when the surface is broken up.

And the frame stiffness matters. The XT600 feels sturdy and heavy-duty, which translates into a more secure feeling when you’re moving quickly and the terrain isn’t perfect.

Braking: solid stopping power for a big bike

Braking is handled by Tektro two-piston hydraulic disc brakes with 203 mm rotors. On wet pavement I still felt like I had enough stopping power to bring the bike down confidently.

Considering this bike’s size and weight, I’m glad it comes with a real hydraulic brake setup.

Weather reality check: you’ll want fenders

I rode on a rainy, muddy day and the biggest annoyance showed up immediately: no integrated fenders.

With fat tires like these, road spray is not subtle. Water and grit were getting tossed up, and it’s the sort of thing that makes you cut a ride short or shows up at home looking like you slid into a puddle on purpose.

The good news is there are mounts for adding fenders (front and rear). I just wish they were included from the start.

Practicality: the weight is real

This is not a lightweight e-bike. The XT600 weighs 118 lb, and that affects everything—lifting, transporting, and storage.

If you live in an apartment and need to carry a bike up stairs, this is the wrong kind of heavy. If you’ve got a garage, a ground-level storage space, or elevator access, it’s much more realistic.

What We Like

Extremely sturdy, heavy-duty minimalist frame that feels confidence-inspiring at speed

Fast Ace adjustable rear shock delivers a noticeably smooth ride over rough pavement

Comfortable moto-style seat with memory foam feel

Kenda 26x4 fat tires add traction, stability, and cushioning

Tektro hydraulic disc brakes with 203 mm rotors feel appropriately strong for a big bike

Integrated headlight and tail light (tail light brightens under braking)

Things To Consider

118 lb weight makes transport and stair-carrying a serious challenge

Seat height isn’t adjustable, and it fits taller riders better (I wouldn’t recommend it for shorter riders)

No integrated fenders, and the bike throws a lot of spray in wet conditions

Turn signals didn’t seem to function on my setup

Final Thoughts

The Meelod XT600 is a beast—in a good way. It’s comfortable, stable, and genuinely fun to ride, especially when the pavement is rough or you want that planted, fat-tire feel. The frame and rear suspension are the standouts for me, and the overall ride quality feels more premium than I expected from the minimalist look.

But it’s also the kind of bike you buy with your lifestyle in mind. If you need something you can carry, store in tight spaces, or quickly load up solo, the weight will get old fast. And if you ride in wet conditions, I’d budget for fenders immediately.

If you’ve got the space for it—and you fit the fixed seat height—the XT600 delivers a comfortable, rugged ride that feels ready for real roads.
