Hollywood Racks Destination E Review: The Two-Ebike Hauler That Actually Makes Loading Easy
February 28, 2025
I’ve been meaning to add a proper e-bike rack to the garage for a while. I already have a moto-style carrier for the really heavy stuff, but for “normal” e-bikes (the kind that are still heavy, just not motorcycle-heavy) I wanted something that felt secure, didn’t wobble down the road, and didn’t require me to deadlift an e-bike every time I wanted to ride.

So I put the Hollywood Racks Destination E to work as a real-world two-bike hauler, loading it up with two very different rides: a Rad Mini-style fat-tire e-bike and a Freego X2 Pro moped-style e-bike. Here’s how it went.
Installation and first setup
Assembly is straightforward, but there are a lot of parts. I did most of it indoors because winter in Michigan is not the vibe for wrenching in the driveway.
Once assembled, the rack itself is not something I’d call “light.” It’s awkward enough that I’d strongly recommend having a dedicated spot in the garage or shed where it can live when it’s not on the vehicle.
Mounting it to the vehicle is simple as long as you have the right hitch.
You need a 2-inch hitch
This rack is designed for a 2-inch receiver. I wouldn’t try to cheat that with a smaller hitch and an adapter, especially once you start stacking real e-bike weight back there.
Sliding it into the hitch is the easy part. What makes the whole setup feel premium is the built-in no-wobble tightening mechanism. After pinning it, I tightened the anti-wobble handle until the rack cinched firmly into the receiver. The difference is immediate: less play, less clunk, and a much more confidence-inspiring feel.
It also includes a locking hitch pin option, plus a cap to keep road grime and moisture out of the key cylinder.
Living with it: fold-up and tilt-down access
Two everyday features ended up mattering a lot more than I expected:
1) It folds up when you’re not using it. Pull the pin, swing it up, reinsert the pin, and it’s out of the way.
2) It tilts down for rear access. Even with bikes loaded, I could tilt the whole rack down and get into the trunk area without removing the rack.
The tilt motion is nicely balanced. It doesn’t feel like the bikes are trying to slam to the ground the moment the latch releases.
Loading e-bikes with the included ramp
This is the part I cared about most, and it delivered.
The Destination E comes with a ramp that extends out. I fully extended it before loading (that matters for stability and angle), then rolled the bikes up rather than muscling them into the trays.
A couple practical tips that made loading smoother:
Load the heavier bike closest to the vehicle. It just feels better from a weight-and-leverage standpoint.
Before rolling the bike up, get the wheel straps and frame clamp out of the way so nothing snags.
Once the bike is in the tray, the process is:
Clamp the frame
Strap the wheels
Optional: lock the clamp
Clamps and straps: surprisingly confidence-inspiring
The frame clamps have big rubber pads, and that’s a small detail that matters when you’re clamping down on a bike you actually like. The wheel straps routed through spokes easily, and the trays handled both a fat tire and a thinner tire without drama.
For security, there’s a locking feature on the clamp knobs. When locked, the knob spins freely so someone can’t simply loosen the clamp and walk off with your bike.
It also includes an additional strap intended to wrap around both bikes as a secondary retention point. If you use it, take a second to route it thoughtfully: avoid cables/housings and keep metal parts from rubbing anything you don’t want scratched.
Real-world fit: two very different e-bikes
This rack had to deal with two totally different shapes.
The Rad Mini-style bike went on cleanly and felt like exactly what this rack is designed for.
The Freego X2 Pro is more “moped-ish,” and I was curious if the clamp would cooperate. With a little positioning (and being mindful of pedals and contact points), it still clamped securely and strapped down without feeling sketchy.
Trunk access with bikes loaded
With both bikes mounted, I tilted the rack down to test clearance and access.
The big takeaway: the bikes stayed up and clear of the ground, and I could get into the rear area without unloading everything. If you’ve ever had to choose between “access the trunk” and “keep bikes mounted,” you already know why this matters.
Road-side confidence: the no-wobble system matters
The anti-wobble mechanism is one of the best parts of this rack.
I’ve seen plenty of racks bouncing around back there on the highway, and it always looks like the bikes are getting hammered by every bump. Tightening the Destination E into the hitch made the whole setup feel far more stable than the typical “pin it and pray” arrangement.
What We Like
The loading ramp changes the whole experience; rolling beats lifting
No-wobble hitch tightening makes the rack feel solid and secure
Tilt-down access is well balanced and makes trunk access realistic with bikes loaded
Wheel trays and straps worked with both fat and thinner tires in my testing
Clamp pads are large and bike-friendly, and the clamp-lock feature adds a layer of security
Things To Consider
It’s heavy and an awkward shape, so storage takes planning
2-inch hitch only (don’t expect it to be a universal fit)
Not approved for all RV classes
Like any rack, loading is smoother if you have some space behind the vehicle to deploy the ramp and walk the bike up
Final Thoughts
The Hollywood Racks Destination E feels like it was built for how people actually use e-bikes: heavy frames, thicker tires, and frequent trips where you don’t want to wrestle bikes onto a rack.
For me, the ramp and the no-wobble hitch system are the two features that make it stand out day-to-day. Add in the balanced tilt for trunk access, and it hits that sweet spot of practical and confidence-inspiring.
If you’ve got a 2-inch hitch and you want an easy-loading, two-e-bike solution that feels stable and thoughtfully designed, the Destination E is absolutely worth considering.
