GUTS Racing Seat Cover for the EGO Power+ Mini Bike: More Grip, More Style, and Better Control

The EGO Power+ Mini Bike has been one of my favorite EV toys to modify. I’ve changed a lot on the bike (including the cosmetics), but for a long time I left one big “stock” part alone: the seat cover.

GUTS Racing Seat Cover

The factory cover looks fine, but it’s slick. If you’re practicing wheelies, riding a little more aggressively, or you just hate that sliding-around feeling, the stock material doesn’t really help you out.

So I finally swapped it for a GUTS Racing seat cover made specifically for the EGO mini bike—and after riding with it, it’s the kind of small upgrade that ends up changing the whole vibe of the bike.

Design That Actually Matches the Build

One of the best parts of going with GUTS is that you aren’t stuck with a generic “black seat on everything” look.

I went with a black-and-orange setup to match my bike and the RunPlayBack color theme:

Black sides

Black ribs

Orange top

Right out of the package, it looked like a proper performance seat cover, not just a replacement skin. If you’ve painted plastics or built your mini bike into a full custom, this is one of those finishing touches that makes the whole bike feel more complete.

GUTS also offers options like changes to seat height (adding foam) and different attachment styles. For my setup, I kept it simple and went with the staple-on approach.

Installation: Straightforward, Just Take Your Time

The install is pretty straightforward, but it’s one of those jobs where patience makes the final result look factory-clean.

What I used:

Needle-nose pliers (to pull the old staples)

Flathead screwdriver (optional, helps get under stubborn staples)

Staple gun

T-50 1/4" staples

The 1/4" staple size matters. You want something that grabs securely without being so long that it punches through the seat pan and risks showing through or damaging the cover.

Once the old cover is off, it’s basically a process of aligning the new cover, stretching it evenly, and working your way around with staples so the seams and ribbing stay straight.

Grip on Real Rides: The Biggest Difference

The main reason I wanted this cover was grip, and that’s exactly where it delivers.

Compared to the stock cover, the GUTS material has a noticeably higher-friction feel. The result is that I stay planted instead of constantly sliding and re-positioning. It’s especially helpful when:

I’m riding more aggressively

I’m hitting bumps that would normally scoot me around

I’m practicing control-focused stuff like wheelies

The ribbed sections also contribute to that “locked in” feeling. It’s not just grippy material—it’s grippy plus texture, and together it adds a layer of control that the stock seat just doesn’t have.

Comfort and Control (Without Changing the Seat Feel)

The stock EGO mini bike seat is already pretty comfortable from a cushion standpoint, and this mod doesn’t mess that up.

The big difference isn’t that it suddenly feels softer—it’s that the traction helps me relax on the bike because I’m not bracing to keep from sliding. When the seat holds you in place better, the ride feels more controlled and less busy.

Durability: Built for Abuse

I’ve run GUTS covers on other bikes, and they’ve held up for years. That’s a big reason I trusted putting one on the EGO.

This cover feels like it’s made to take real use—weather, wear, and the kind of riding that would normally start making a stock cover look tired pretty quickly. Whether I’m cruising pavement or ripping around, it has that “built to last” feel without adding bulk or ruining the seat shape.

What We Like

Massive grip improvement over the stock EGO seat cover

Custom look that can actually match a themed build

Adds control for aggressive riding and wheelie practice

Durable material that feels made for long-term use

Staple-on fit feels secure and permanent

Things To Consider

Install takes a little patience to get the alignment and tension looking perfect

You’ll want the right staples (I used T-50 1/4") to avoid issues with staple length

If you want added foam/height changes, it’s worth checking with GUTS on what they can do specifically for the EGO mini bike

Final Thoughts

This GUTS Racing seat cover ended up being one of those upgrades that feels small on paper but makes the bike better every time I ride it.

The look is a legit style upgrade, but the real win is the grip. After getting used to how planted the bike feels with this cover, going back to the stock seat material is hard.

If you ride your EGO mini bike like more than just a casual pit toy—especially if you’re working on wheelies or pushing harder on corners—this is a solid mod that improves control without complicating the build.
